It’s a bit of a “dad” thing to say, but the truth is actually that haircuts are making REAL JOBS.
According to Service Skills Australia, the industry body for hairdressing and other service industries, 55,900 people were employed as hairdressers in 2013. What’s more, that number is expected to grow by 8.3% to be 60,500 jobs in the hair industry by 2018. That is an awful lot of real jobs!
And it’s not just women employed in the hair industry. The increase in beard fashion and hipster chic has seen a dramatic return of the Barber shop!
The rise in the call for men’s specialist haircare has also resulted in the creation of a brand new (or perhaps old) qualification in the Certificate III in Barbering. Not only does this bring opportunities for more lads to enter the hair industry, but men too can now enjoy a trip to the hairdresser and enjoy pampering with facial toning, beard trimming, moustache sculpting all being skills covered in up to date hairdressing and barbering qualifications.
